Soldering is the most important technique to master in making fine jewelry. Technically, “soldering,” in fine jewelry making, is really “brazing” although soldering is the commonly used term.
In this 5 hour class we’ll first review the basic steps & process of soldering covered in the “Soldering #1” class then you’ll spend a full day learning & practicing soldering skills.
Group Instruction: 2-3 Persons
Fees due 2 weeks prior to class start date by Check or Credit Card.
Price: (for the combined classes)

In class we use the best soldering (fuel) gases, e.g., Natural Gas & Propane combined with oxygen. Some jewelry programs -still- use acetylene... a very dirty gas and a poor choice for jewelry work. (acetylene / oxygen combination is fine for welding steel though.)
People just starting to solder sometimes use propane & air torches. Although these simple units lack the range of flame control and higher temperatures that torches combining oxygen provide they are a cost effective option to start with. You'll try one in class. You'll also have a chance to work with different types of fuel gasses plus torches with & without oxygen.
Additionally we’ll cover information about special torch tips that expand your options. We’ll discuss equipment suppliers and good supply sources, locally and nationally.
Once you’re able to solder with confidence many jewelry projects become possible. This class will help develop your technique as you master the skill of “Soldering.”
Persons under 18 yrs. of age need signed parental permission to take this class.
